Don’t use GiffGaff’s pay as you go sim abroad – it’s a rip!

Forensic-Science-365-739262…as indeed may the lot of them but I’ve just wasted £20+ with them trying to access data from the US.  I must admit I wasn’t expecting it (the £20+) to have gone in a little over 24 hours but that’s what happened!  Luckily I was able to access wireless so got round the issue – but when I got back I tried to discover what (WTF!) had gone on.  Unfortunately the service that GiffGaff provide is shockingly poor- so poor that I thought i’d let you all see just how goddam awful it really is.

Clearly someone needs to give Stephen a rocket – “have a wonderful day” FFS I’m having a frustrating day – where’s your customer focus and senstivity?

Well I can confirm that after this debacle I’m ditching GiffGaff.  I’m going to wait for something along the lines of T-Mobile USA’s innovative free international data roaming plan – even though as one review said

But in nearly all cases, users only get EDGE connectivity, which is not much faster than old-fashioned dial-up; between 120Kbps and 384Kbps.” Hey in the UK that’s fine by me – half of the country has really slow connectivity – you’re lucky if you can get GPRS!

Anyway enough of the future – here’s the recent history of me v GiffGaff….so far!

I’m not sure if my previous message got through since you redirected me to a log in page!

I added £15 to my account before going on holiday which took me over £20 balance. When I got to Florida initially, in Miami, I was able to both send and receive texts – just a few though. However on travelling south to the Florida Keys I could only receive texts (I think I got 2) – none could be sent – despite have confirmed I had the giffgaff access point details entered correctly.

It might have been due to the fact that the only network available was AT&T – but even so some warning that this might cause problems would have been nice.

Secondly I have just checked my account as there is no credit, despite the fact that it should still be over £20. AS there was no data connection in the Keys please explain where my money has gone . I will require some evidence of the usage – days, times etc – and even then I retain my right to register a complaint with the telecoms ombudsman.

You are billing me for occasions when I was not able to connect. What a rip off.

I also need to know what each of the column headers would have been.

I also need to know what site each alleged connection was to e.g. Facebook, twitter etc.

I am sorry about that but the credit was 100% used on the internet.

I hope this explains everything for you.

Thanks Paul
